| At the Splitters Creek Fruit Company we have had a long term commitment to minimising our carbon footprint.
We do this primarily by sourcing as much of our fruit from the local area as possible. In doing so, we keep the embedded energy to a minimum. In fact, the great majority of our fruit is either grown by us or bought locally from fellow members of our local food group - lemons come from Tiandi Grove in Yackandandah, grapefruits and limes from Tranquil Hills in Cobram, Lemongrass grown in Albury and Lemon Myrtle leaves from Mansfield. We also make our own electricity using solar panels, our waste is mostly recycled or composted and our waste water waters our lime and kaffir lime orchard. Even our cardboard boxes are made locally. |
